Sarbanes-Oxley National Service Team
Bill Godshall , CPA
Sarbanes-Oxley Specialist
Mr. Godshall joined Frazier & Deeter in 2005, after leaving the Public Company Accounting and Oversight Board (PCAOB) where he served as Inspection Leader. He brings over 15 years of public accounting experience to the assurance department. His areas of specialty include working with large and middle-market companies in the public and private sector.
Bill’s credentials lend credibility to F&D clients, as the rules affecting public and tax-exempt companies slowly migrate into the private arena. His experience includes working with the energy, manufacturing, financial services, and services industries. In addition, Bill has extensive experience with complex accounting topics such as derivatives, leases, business combinations and impairment of long-lived assets.
His career began at Coopers & Lybrand (a predecessor firm to PricewaterhouseCoopers), where he worked until 2002 when he left to join the Capital Markets Risk and Accounting Advisory group at Deloitte & Touche. While at Deloitte, Bill specialized in assisting his clients with complex accounting and reporting issues, primarily in the energy and manufacturing industries.
Bill joined the PCAOB in January 2004, prior to the start of the first full-scope inspections of registered public accounting firms. At the PCAOB, he helped to develop the training program for full-scope inspections and the inspection methodology for audits of internal control over financial reporting. He also wrote the inspection guidance for derivative accounting and auditing areas that is in place today. Other responsibilities were to serve as issue consultant to inspection teams for complex accounting and auditing issues. Bill has led and participated in the inspections of several local firms throughout the Southeast.
