Dan Owens' construction expertise at VonLehman & Company Inc., in Cincinnati, Ohio, lies in meeting the audit, accounting and consulting needs of closely held construction companies and their owners. Owens has extensive experience in the construction industry. He has written articles, taught classes and spoken on various construction-related topics, and is active in the firm's Construction Services Group.
Owens has assisted clients to analyze job profitability by job type; develop indirect job cost application rates for applying indirect job costs to jobs and bids; reconcile profit from jobs to the financial statements; enhance financial statement presentation and usefulness both internally and for bonding purposes; and perform cash basis, completed contract and look-back considerations for tax planning. He has participated in various other construction-specific consulting engagements as well.
Owens serves on the boards and committees of construction-related trade and nonprofit organizations. He is certification chairman of the Cincinnati Chapter of Construction Financial Management Association, a member of the Membership Retention Committee of Allied Construction Industries and treasurer of the Miami Purchase Preservation Fund. He also serves as a technical proofreader for CPAmerica's construction industry newsletter, Building for Success, and performs peer reviews of other CPA firms.
Owens is a certified construction financial professional, having passed the certification exam given by the Institute of Certified Construction Financial Professionals at its inaugural offering in May 2004.
